Having worked with some of the companies in the British Engines group, developing websites for Tyne Pressure Testing, BEL Engineering and CMP Products – British Engines came to us looking for an updated group website. The overarching goal for the new British Engines website was to showcase the group’s scale and presence whilst also displaying the apprentice/ graduate schemes and jobs they have to offer. 

The UR design team refreshed the brand’s colour palette, introducing a navy blue to enhance the look and feel while retaining the signature red and black highlights. Using people-focused imagery was crucial, so we introduced flexible layouts to ensure these images could be used seamlessly across the new website. 

We also worked closely with the team at British Engines to ensure the new site structure was correct and in line with what their target audience would be looking for – finding the balance between showing the scale of the group and making it an informational hub for prospective apprentices and even parents was vital. 

Another key part of the website design and build was ensure the wealth of content already available was easily accessible for the different types of users. Adding clear filters on the News page along with the site search, meant that the content was not only organised but easy to find. We also made certain that relevant content was teased on key pages, for example, the apprentice page is home to further info on the scheme, information for parents, apprentice stories and relevant social media teasers. Key stats are displayed through the website as well – each tailored to the pages they sit on to further inform the users.
